New Dual Opteron based web server deployed

The significant growth in MediaCenter's customer base has justified the installation of a new web server system. Due to the increased demand for dynamic program execution and MySQL, a 64-bit, high-performance AMD Opteron architecture was chosen, and the new machine is therefore a Dual AMD Opteron 244 with MSI K8T Master 2 server chips and 2 GB Kingston Registered ECC RAM.

The Broadcom network card built into the server allows 1 GBit network connectivity.

The processors have factory copper cooling, which is excellent at dissipating heat. In our tests, even at 100% load, the processors only heated up to 40-42 degrees Celsius.
